Measurement in service of people.
PromptLeash measures how AI is used so your people can get better at using it. This page sets out the principles behind that, who can see what, the controls that protect individuals, and the questions your people may ask.
Principles
Principles for measuring AI use.
Capability first
The purpose of measuring AI use is to help people use it well: showing where teams need support, where training should be targeted and where people are already doing excellent work that others can learn from.
Aggregate by default
Manager and executive views are built from aggregates, and they only show groups that meet the minimum group size.
People see their own results
Individuals see their own proficiency, strengths and next steps, so the evidence helps them first.
Access follows role
Who can see each view is set by role, within the access configuration agreed for your deployment.
Pseudonymised analysis
Individuals are represented by pseudonyms in the analysis, so evidence about how work is done does not depend on names.
Notice before measurement
People should know what is measured, why, and who can see what before measurement starts. PromptLeash provides notice templates as part of deployment.
Visibility
Who sees what.
| Sees | Does not see | |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | Their own proficiency, strengths and suggested next steps. | Anyone else's results. |
| Manager | Their team's results by role, with focus areas for support and training, for groups that meet the minimum group size. | Individual results, or groups below the minimum group size. |
| Executive | Aggregated evidence across the organisation, for groups that meet the minimum group size. | Individual results, or groups below the minimum group size. |
| PromptLeash | Nothing. PromptLeash runs in your environment, and nothing comes back. | Any of your data: no telemetry, no usage data and no interaction content. |
The underlying data stays in your environment. Who can administer it is governed by your own access controls and logging.
Controls
The controls that protect individuals.
Aggregation
Manager and executive views summarise activity across groups of people. They are designed to show patterns in how work is done, not to single out a person.
Minimum-group thresholds
A group's results are shown only when the group meets the minimum group size, which protects individuals in small teams.
Role-based access
Access to each view follows the roles agreed during deployment, so people see the view that matches their role.
Pseudonymisation
Individuals are represented by pseudonyms in the analysis. Replacing names with pseudonyms does not on its own de-identify information under the Privacy Act, so pseudonymised data stays in your environment under your access controls.
Agreed scope
Only the sources you approve are analysed, and only within the agreed scope. Coverage reflects the sources connected in your deployment, not every interaction in the organisation.
Local processing
Interaction content is read to understand the work being performed. It is processed in your environment and never reaches PromptLeash.
Notice templates
PromptLeash provides notice templates as part of deployment, so you can tell your people what is measured, why and who can see what.
Questions
Questions your people may ask.
- Can my manager see my individual results?
- No. Manager views are aggregated and only show groups that meet the minimum group size. Your individual view is for you.
- Does PromptLeash, the company, see my prompts?
- No. PromptLeash runs inside your organisation's environment, and nothing comes back to PromptLeash.
- What is read?
- Activity from the AI sources your organisation has approved, within the agreed scope. That can include the content of your interactions, which is processed inside your organisation's environment.
- Why is my organisation measuring AI use?
- To understand where AI helps, where people need support and training, and where to invest. Your organisation's notice and policy set out its purpose.
